Terms of Use

1. Who we are

Dosefold is a personal health journaling application designed and operated by Bo Chen, an independent developer (“we”, “us” or “our”). References to “Dosefold” include the application, its website, and the services described in these Terms.

You can contact us at 1436588172@qq.com. This is also our contact address for legal notices and consumer questions. If you need a postal address for formal legal service, contact us first and we will provide the appropriate details.

2. Acceptance and eligibility

By downloading, installing, accessing or using Dosefold, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application and delete it from your device.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Dosefold in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, and at least 13 years old elsewhere, unless a higher minimum age applies in your country. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, you may use Dosefold only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Dosefold is not directed to children.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Dosefold is lawful in your country and that you have the right to use any device, account, network or content involved in your use.

3. The service

Dosefold is a local-first journaling tool for adults managing a GLP-1 medication routine. Its features may include recording medication plans and doses, meals, water, weight and goals; viewing trends; reading Apple Health data that you explicitly authorise; exporting your records; and, when you choose it, sending a meal photo or text to an optional FoodScan service for candidate food suggestions.

Features may change, be improved, or be withdrawn over time. We may release updates through the App Store or another authorised distribution channel. Some features may require a compatible iPhone, a recent version of iOS, an internet connection, or your permission for Apple Health, notifications, camera, microphone or speech recognition.

Dosefold is offered without a user account and without cloud sync; your journal is stored locally on your device. Some features may be offered through an optional paid subscription, described in section 4. The Apple Media Services terms also apply to purchases made through the App Store.

4. Subscriptions, billing and refunds

Dosefold Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription available inside the Dosefold app. The features included, the price, the billing period, and any free trial or introductory offer are shown on the App Store product page and on the purchase screen before you confirm. We do not charge you directly and we do not process your payment-card details.

Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the price that applies at renewal, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your Apple Account within 24 hours before the current period ends. If a free trial or introductory offer is presented, it converts into a paid subscription at the end of the stated trial period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that period ends. Any unused portion of a free trial may be forfeited when you buy a subscription, as described by Apple at the time of purchase.

Cancellation. You can view, change or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, or use the Subscriptions section of the App Store app. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not by itself refund the current period, and access normally continues until that period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. If you delete Dosefold without cancelling, Apple may continue to charge you.

Restoring purchases. If you reinstall Dosefold, move to a new device, or find that a purchased subscription is not recognised, use “Restore Purchases” in the app while signed in with the Apple Account used for the purchase. Restoration depends on Apple confirming an active entitlement; we cannot grant access outside the App Store purchase system.

Refunds. All purchases are processed by Apple, and Apple’s refund policies apply. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves. To request a refund, use Apple’s “report a problem” process at reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer right, including a statutory right of withdrawal that may apply to digital content in your country; where such a right applies and you have begun using the content with your consent, the right may end early as permitted by law.

Changes to plans and prices. We may add, change or withdraw subscription plans or the features included in them. Where a change materially reduces what your subscription provides, we will give reasonable notice and, where required by law, obtain your consent before it takes effect. Prices may change; the price that applies to a purchase or renewal is the one Apple displays before you confirm it. If we discontinue Dosefold or a subscription plan, we will stop charging for it and provide any remedy required by applicable law and Apple’s policies.

If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at 1436588172@qq.com and Apple Support. We will help where we reasonably can, but only Apple can adjust App Store billing.

5. Health and medical disclaimer

Dosefold is not a medical device, a clinical decision-support system, or a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It does not provide prescribing, dosing, titration, tapering, emergency or monitoring advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your medication, dose, schedule, side effects, nutrition and health conditions.

Any estimated amount shown in Dosefold is a simplified mathematical estimate derived from doses you have recorded. It is expressed in milligrams and is not a blood or plasma concentration, not a prediction of clinical effect, and not a recommendation to change a dose or schedule. Estimates can be unavailable or inaccurate when records are incomplete, delayed, duplicated or entered incorrectly. Never use an estimate to decide whether to take, skip, increase or reduce a medication.

If you think you may be experiencing a medical emergency or a serious adverse reaction, contact local emergency services or a qualified healthcare professional immediately. Do not delay seeking care because of something you read or see in Dosefold.

6. Your content and records

You retain ownership of the information you enter into Dosefold, including medication records, meals, water, weight, goals, notes and personal food photos (“Your Content”). You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the features you choose to use, for example to display Your Content back to you, create an export you request, or process a scan request you initiate.

You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of Your Content. Do not enter information that you do not have the right to use. Do not rely on Dosefold as the only copy of important records; export or back up information you need to keep. Deleting the application or clearing local data may permanently remove records from that device.

You must not upload or submit content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, infringing, maliciously deceptive, or that contains another person’s sensitive personal information without lawful authority. We may remove or refuse content where required by law or where it creates a security or legal risk.

7. Licence and acceptable use

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Dosefold on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, in accordance with the App Store rules and these Terms.

You may not: (a) copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense or commercially exploit Dosefold except as permitted by law; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to derive source code except where applicable law expressly permits it; (c) interfere with security, authentication, rate limits or access controls; (d) use bots, scrapers or automated processes to overload the service; (e) introduce malware or attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or data; (f) misrepresent your identity or affiliation; or (g) use Dosefold to provide medical advice or clinical services to others.

You are responsible for keeping your device, Apple Account and any local backups secure. Dosefold does not provide account recovery for local records. If you lose access to a device or delete the application, we may not be able to recover your journal.

8. Apple Health and device permissions

Apple Health access is optional and read-only. If you authorise it, Dosefold may read the weight and step information you select. Dosefold does not write to or delete data from Apple Health. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings or the Health app. A lack of readable data does not necessarily mean that you denied permission.

Camera, microphone, speech recognition, notifications, photo library and sharing features are used only when you choose the relevant feature. System permission prompts are controlled by iOS; we do not override them. You can change permissions in iOS Settings.

9. Optional FoodScan and third-party services

FoodScan is optional. When you choose to analyse a meal photo or description, the content you select, any note you add, and your locale may be sent over HTTPS to our scan service and to an AI model provider so that candidate foods can be returned. The scan service does not retain your raw photo, note or transcript, and requests are designed not to include your journal, medication, weight or Apple Health records. Returned candidates expire for retries after 24 hours; automatic cleanup is scheduled but may be delayed by the hosting platform. Barcode results may be reused for up to seven days.

Third-party services have their own terms and privacy practices. We choose service providers with care, but we do not control their independent processing, availability or security. Do not submit content that you are not comfortable sending to a service provider. You can always use manual entry instead of FoodScan.

Estimates returned by FoodScan are candidates, not verified nutrition facts. You must review and confirm a candidate before it is added to your journal. Photos are not a substitute for reading a label, measuring a portion, or following advice from a qualified professional.

10. Intellectual property

Dosefold, its name, logo, visual design, interface, text, software, and other materials we provide are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of our intellectual property to you.

You may not use our name, logo or branding in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership or affiliation without our prior written permission. You may refer to Dosefold truthfully for commentary, review or lawful interoperability.

11. Availability, changes and termination

We aim to keep Dosefold useful and reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. Features may depend on Apple services, network access, device capabilities and third-party providers. We may suspend or discontinue a feature, or the application, where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance or product development.

We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these Terms or use the application in a way that creates a security, legal or operational risk. Where appropriate, we will give reasonable notice. Termination does not affect rights that by their nature should survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing-law provisions.

You may stop using Dosefold at any time and delete it from your device. Deleting the application may remove local records; export anything you need first.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Dosefold is provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the application will meet your requirements, that records will be accurate or complete, that estimates will be clinically meaningful, or that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited in your country. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you benefit from mandatory consumer protections that these Terms do not override.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or related to Dosefold or these Terms, even if we have been advised that such damage may occur.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to Dosefold or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Dosefold in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bo Chen and Dosefold from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and reasonable legal fees arising from your unlawful use of Dosefold, your violation of these Terms, or content you submit in violation of another person’s rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own negligence, wilful misconduct or breach of these Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This choice does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at 1436588172@qq.com so that we can try to resolve the issue informally.

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to use a local consumer-protection or alternative-dispute-resolution body. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from bringing a claim in a court that has jurisdiction under mandatory law.

16. Apple-specific terms

If you obtained Dosefold through the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the application or its content, maintenance, support or warranty. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for Dosefold.

To the extent permitted by law, Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You must comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and the App Store rules. Apple’s refund policies apply to purchases made through the App Store.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the application, legal requirements or our practices. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable notice within the application or by another appropriate method. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires a different form of consent.

18. General

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may assign our rights in connection with a reorganisation, sale or transfer of the application. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms shown in the application, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Dosefold.
